Approach

Center for Resiliency employs empirically-supported treatments to help patients build skills that will help them deal with their current issues, modulate intense emotions, and become a more interpersonally-effective individual. As defined by the American Psychological Association Presidential Task Force on Evidence-Based Practice (2006), empirically-supported treatment means that the results from at least two research studies demonstrate that a specific treatment for a problem is superior to another treatment or a placebo.

More importantly, although the treatments Center for Resiliency uses are scientifically-based, our therapeutic approach is one of evidence-based practice. This means that three factors play a primary role in our delivery of treatment: 1) Patient values, 2) Patient characteristics, and 3) Our clinical expertise. While you might consider us the treatment expert, YOU are the expert of you or your child’s life. Therefore, treatment is collaborative and you are always encouraged to ask questions throughout the therapeutic process. We will work together to create your therapy goals and we will regularly monitor your progress in treatment.Above all, we believe that an empathic and safe environment (with some sprinkled-in humor!) is the foundation to valuable therapy, and one that can relieve you or your loved one’s emotional distress.
